Last week we celebrated your 2nd birthday. How funny that this was published today on your original due date. I can’t believe how fast you’re growing into such an awesome little man. You’re 3 inches shy from being your big brothers height. Plus you’re heavier than your brother was at this age. Gabriel was 23 lbs while you’re at 27lbs. You’re going to be able to hold your own in a wrestling match, that’s for sure.
You woke up at 5:30am on your birthday to start the festivities. I was glad you were so excited to start the day but it was a really slow moving morning for the rest of us.
I took you on your birthday date to the mall before your nap. Usually I take the birthday boy to ToysRUs to get a crown, balloon and small gift BUT I forgot to update our address before we moved and got us kicked off the birthday club. Opps, my bad. Next year I hope.
Thank goodness for mall trains because this was a great one stop shop for us. You didn’t want me to come with you on the train, but you had enough after a couple moments. After the train we ended up in the Disney Store were you found the only train toy they had in the entire store. You have a “sixth train sense” or something.
I asked you what you wanted for lunch, you answered “FRIES!”. We made our way to McDonalds but took a ton of detours and pit stops on our way there.
After lunch you were exhausted from a combination of running around (mommy didn’t bring the stroller with…), waking up at 5:30am, and I lost track of time and it was almost 2pm. We like to push our limits and live on the edge of danger, huh?
You fell asleep on the way back home after playing Gangnam Style for the third time. That song is still a number one on our family playlist.
After nap time we asked you what you wanted for dinner. Gabriel gave you a little help with a suggestion but you were so on board. We were on our way to Chuck E Cheese!
You wouldn’t blow the candles so Gabriel helped out.
With the help of great grandma and great grandpa we had a ton of fun eating pizza, playing games and meeting the big cheese himself. I honestly though you were going to be terrified of him but you surprised us all by going up to Chuck E and gave him a hug. You did, however, freak out when a worker tossed the game tickets up into the air for people to catch after the dance along. It went from cute to “get-me-the-eff-out-of-here” really quick.
Oh, little guy. That was just your birthday. Your birthday weekend we had one birthday party on Saturday and another Sunday for more family. We live in a tiny house at the moment and having everyone over from both sides of the family gets really cramped.
Saturday morning we went to the Chicago Toy & Game Fair (more on that in another post). We left early to get home just in time to get ready to greet some of mommy’s extended family. Your brother loved helping you open presents and help you blow out your candles. You even got a visit from our cousin’s awesome dog.
My cousin’s awesome dog. Gabriel loved him, Rafael was terrified.
Sunday we went to a restaurant to enjoy a pizza lunch with daddy’s extended family. So many people came out to see you and to wish you a happy 2nd birthday. You blew out your birthday candle for the first time all by yourself! You were so proud of yourself!
I think we were all partied out by Sunday afternoon that we all took a nap when we got home!
We all love you very much little buddy!
