18 Years After Death

These are the things in life that will never get easier.

18 years after death

Last year I coped with my mother birthday and anniversary of her death better than I did this year. It could be the fact that I’m turning 30 next year and she passed away at that age. Or it’s the fact that the kids are starting to ask more intense questions regarding both their deceased grandmothers.

It’s not going to get easier. We are trying to explain certain details in a way that they can understand but not sugar coat it so they are completely in the dark.

It’s a bit of a trek to get down to visit my mother’s gravesite so we try to make the most of it when we are there. It’s hard when it’s 90 degrees in the middle of August and the sun is shining directly on us. I’m grateful that the kids were such good sports for me and my grandparents who came with us. They like to run up and down the hill that’s close to my mom’s site. It keeps them entertained.
