Lake Count-I-Con is a pretty big gathering of comic book fans.
I think it’s safe to say that there are a lot of video game fans there as well. We asked the boys if they wanted to dress up in a costume to the convention. They saw there were a couple of cosplayers last year at the first Lake Count-I-Con. After tossing around a couple of ideas, the boys decided they wanted to dress up as zombies from Plants vs Zombies.
David did a really awesome job finding a lot of their costume pieces from local thrift stores and consignment shops . There were a lot of pieces that they can reuse for another purpose.
Honestly, the only thing that I wish we could have done differently was the makeup. We ordered a really high-quality face paint from Amazon but I didn’t practice on the boys prior to going to Count-I-Con.
No matter how much of a hack job I thought I did, the kids enjoyed it and got really into character.
The event is held at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Illinois. Comic book creators from all over the country (possibly the world) come to display their latest work.
Despite the lack of expression coming from the boys, they were so excited to see a “real” Pikachu. Cute!
Gabriel really took the job as a zombie seriously. Rafael was a little confused but hamming it up, as usual.
This was the first time we did not bring a stroller for an event this big. Needless to say, the kids were exhausted and ready for a long shower.
